It started with a dream …
I always liked to travel a lot. That started with my first self earned money at the age of 16. I spent it on an Interrail flat rate train ticket and travelled with my friends through Europe. That was in 1983.
Many journeys followed: 1987 I did my first one Month camper trip in a self built RENAULT 4 F4 camper. In 1992 I drove through New Zealand for three months in an extended Ford station wagon. By now I've added several destinations in Asia and North America.
And now I'm 55. So: Why wait any longer?
Together with my wonderful wife I will convert this IVECO EuroFire into a 4x4 camper. And then we'll start the big journey …

Summer 2020
I started with first research and focused on Renault M series. I found a seemingly competent dealer and conversion shop near Landshut. But …
- The Renault chassis is very heavy …
- and with an overall loading length of 3300 mm too short.
- The dealer's final offer was so expensive that it completely blew my budget.
March 2021
In Neuenburg/Rhein there is one of the biggest dealers for used government vehicles: Sebastian Reuss
He has always a great number of fire engines of all sizes and types at his grounds. And there is a cool off-road testing area.
I visited him in March 21 together with my friend Nils. We soon found this 25 year old Iveco. Actually I could hardly miss the truck because of the color. After excessive off-road testing I wanted to buy it, but Sebastian said: "No! Not before your wife hadn't driven it."
